The TimeIt360 connector lets a school administrator use Claude or ChatGPT to work with their school's timetable: ask questions about teachers, grades and the published timetable, import spreadsheets, generate a timetable and publish it. Everything that changes data goes through a preview and an explicit confirmation first.
💡 Connecting is optional. Nothing is shared with Claude or ChatGPT until you approve the connection on a TimeIt360 consent screen, and you can disconnect at any time.
Overview
- Who can use it: only the school administrator, meaning the account that owns the school in TimeIt360. Other users who sign in are told the connector is for school administrators and nothing is shared.
- Where it works: Claude (the claude.ai website, the desktop and mobile apps), Claude Code, and ChatGPT.
- The connector address:
https://www.timeit360.com/mcp. This is the one address to use everywhere. - What it never does on its own: import data, replace the live timetable, or start a new generation over one that is part-way. Those steps are previewed first, and the change is applied only by a second, separate confirmation.
- No student data: TimeIt360 does not store student information, so none is shared. Please do not ask the connector to import student personal information.
Connect from Claude
- In Claude, open Settings (or Customize) and go to Connectors. The menu names change from time to time; look for Connectors.
- Find TimeIt360 in the connectors directory and choose Connect. If it is not listed yet, choose Add custom connector and enter the address
https://www.timeit360.com/mcp. - A TimeIt360 sign-in window opens. Sign in with your school administrator account.
- The consent screen shows the app asking to connect (Claude) and the address it will return to. Read it, then choose Approve.
- Back in Claude, TimeIt360 now shows as connected. Start a chat and ask, for example, "Which school is this connected to?"
Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http timeit360 https://www.timeit360.com/mcp, then use /mcp inside Claude Code and choose TimeIt360 to sign in and approve in your browser.
Connect from ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings and go to Apps (or Connectors).
- Find TimeIt360 in the directory and choose Connect. If it is not listed yet, add a custom connector with the address
https://www.timeit360.com/mcp(this may require developer mode or a plan that supports custom connectors). - A TimeIt360 sign-in window opens. Sign in with your school administrator account and choose Approve on the consent screen.
- In a new chat, enable TimeIt360 for the conversation and ask, for example, "Which school is this connected to?"
What you can ask for
| Ask for | What happens |
|---|---|
| Counts and lookups ("how many teachers do I have?", "who teaches Maths in Grade 8 A?") | Reads your school's data and answers. Nothing changes. |
| Timetables ("what does Grade 8 A have on Monday?", "what is Ms. Rao's schedule?") | Reads the published timetable for a class or a teacher. |
| Substitutions, bell times, schedules, visiting teachers | Reads the same information the matching pages in TimeIt360 show. |
| Readiness and workload ("is my data ready to generate?", "who is overloaded?") | Runs the same checks as the Readiness and Teacher Workload tabs. |
| Importing a spreadsheet (teachers, grades, subjects, class teachers, who teaches what, periods per week) | Prepares a preview. Nothing is saved until you approve it. |
| Generating a timetable | Starts the generation one batch at a time; see below. |
| "Why did my generation stop short?" | Explains which classes or teachers are short and what could be loosened. |
| Publishing | Shows a preview of what would go live, then publishes only after you approve. |
| Help with TimeIt360 | Searches this help center. |
Importing a spreadsheet
- Ask Claude or ChatGPT to import your sheet (attach or paste it). The connector reads up to 500 rows and 100 columns, and files up to 4 MB. In ChatGPT you can upload the file in the chat.
- You get a preview: which rows would be added and which would be skipped (duplicates, missing names). Nothing is saved yet.
- Review the preview. If it is right, tell the assistant to apply it; if not, ask it to discard the preview or correct the sheet.
- The import is applied only by the confirmation step, once per preview, within 30 minutes. After that, ask for a new preview.
Some imports need the standard template: class teachers (Grade Name, Section, Teacher), who teaches what (teacher, subject, grade and an IsAssigned column) and periods per week (a subject-by-grade matrix; an empty cell clears the existing value). A sheet too large for the connector can be imported on the matching TimeIt360 page instead, and the assistant can give you the link.
Generating a timetable
Generating a full timetable takes several minutes. It works in batches of about 10 grades:
- Ask the assistant to generate the timetable. It starts one batch and answers within about a second; the batch keeps running on the server for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
- The assistant checks progress with the generation status, which says things like "Batch 2 of 3 is running" or "Batch 2 is done; the next call starts batch 3".
- When a batch has ended, ask it to continue: each call starts the next batch. Only one batch can run at a time.
- When the last batch is done you get the outcome: finished, or stopped short.
If a run stops short, asking again retries just the failed batch in the same run (up to 3 attempts are worth trying, because each attempt places things differently). If you changed your school data in the meantime, or the previous run had completed, a new run starts from batch 1 and the assistant says why. Asking for the cause (the diagnosis) shows which classes or teachers are short.
The generated timetable is staged, not live. Students and teachers see nothing new until you publish.
Publishing
- Ask the assistant to publish. It first shows a preview: the staged timetable, the version name, and the timetable it would replace (which stays in your timetable history).
- Review it. Publishing replaces the live timetable for the whole school.
- If you approve, the assistant confirms with the single-use code from the preview. The code works once, for about 5 minutes, only for your account and school, and publishes exactly what you saw.
Who can connect, and what is shared
- Administrators only. Anyone else is refused, and nothing is issued.
- Supported apps only. The consent screen is shown only for Claude, ChatGPT, and tools such as Claude Code running on your own computer.
- What Claude or ChatGPT receives: the results of the questions you ask: teacher names and email addresses, subjects, grades and sections, assignments, availability, bell times, the published timetable, substitutions, generation status and school-wide totals. Phone numbers are removed. That content is then handled under Anthropic's or OpenAI's own terms and privacy policy.
- What TimeIt360 records: an audit log of each call (time, tool, which app, success or error, duration and a one-way hash of the request, never the request or the results). See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Disconnect
- Claude: open Settings > Connectors, choose TimeIt360 and disconnect. ChatGPT: open Settings > Apps (or Connectors), choose TimeIt360 and disconnect.
- After you disconnect, the app can no longer renew its access. Access that was already issued stops working within about one hour.
- To end a connection on our side straight away, or to ask us to delete what the connector stored for your school, email support@kvalabs.com.
Troubleshooting
- "The connector is for school administrators." You signed in with an account that does not own a school. Sign out and sign in with the administrator account that owns it.
- The consent screen says "This app is not supported." The connection request came from an app TimeIt360 does not connect to. Nothing was shared. Connect from Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code.
- Sign-in loops or the consent screen does not appear. Allow pop-ups for the sign-in window, make sure you are using the address
https://www.timeit360.com/mcp, and try connecting again. If you have several TimeIt360 accounts, sign out of the others first. - "A generation batch is already running." Only one batch can run per school. Ask for the generation status, wait for the batch to end, then continue.
- Generation stopped short. Ask the assistant to try again (up to 3 attempts), or ask why it stopped to see what to loosen. If you changed your data, it starts a fresh run.
- The import preview expired. Previews last 30 minutes. Ask for a new preview.
- The publish confirmation expired. The code lasts about 5 minutes. Ask for a new preview, then approve again.
- "Slow down" or rate-limit messages. The connector limits how fast heavy actions can run for each user. Wait a few seconds and ask again.
- Tools are missing or behave oddly after an update. Disconnect and reconnect the TimeIt360 connector to refresh its tool list.
- Something else. Email support@kvalabs.com and tell us which assistant you used and roughly when.
