Overview

The Master View page displays all published timetables in a single wide grid, organized by bell time schedule. It has two views accessible via tabs: By Class and By Teacher. Both views support Excel export.

By Class (default): Grades are grouped by their assigned schedule, with each group shown in its own card. The grid uses a 3-level header: grade names at the top, sections below, and day abbreviations at the bottom. Period rows show times on the left with subject and teacher information in each cell. Subjects are color-coded for easy identification, with a legend at the bottom. Click any cell to see full details in a popup.

By Teacher: Teachers are listed as rows, with days and periods as columns. Each cell shows the subject and grade assignment for that teacher at that time slot. This view makes it easy to see each teacher's full schedule at a glance.

Rules & Constraints

  • Published Timetable Required: Only grades with published timetables show data in the grid

    • What Happens: Unpublished grades show dashes in cells and "Not Published" badge
    • How to Fix: Generate and publish timetable from the Timetable Generation page
  • Organized by Schedule: Grades are grouped by their bell time schedule

    • What Happens: Each schedule gets its own card with a separate grid
    • Example: If Grade 5 uses "Default Schedule" and Grade 10 uses "Senior Schedule", they appear in separate cards
  • Grades Sorted Numerically: Grades appear in numerical order (1, 2, 3...) then alphabetically by section (A, B, C)

  • Read-Only View: Master View is for viewing only — no editing is possible from this page

    • To Make Changes: Use the Timetable Generation page to regenerate
    • Export: Use the Export Excel button to download data for offline use
  • Bell Times Required: At least one bell time schedule must exist to show the grid

    • What Happens: Empty state shown if no schedules exist
    • How to Fix: Create a bell time schedule on the Bell Times page

Tips & Notes

  • Two Views for Different Needs: Use By Class to compare grades side-by-side. Use By Teacher to see each teacher's full weekly schedule.
  • Export for Sharing: Use Export Excel to download the master view as a spreadsheet for printing, sharing with staff, or offline reference. The Teachers legend sheet helps identify teacher initials.
  • Compare Grades at a Glance: Use Master View to quickly see what all grades are doing at any given period. Scan down a period row to compare across classes.
  • Color-Coded Subjects: Subject colors are consistent across the entire grid, making it easy to spot patterns like which periods are heavy on Math vs Science.
  • Sticky Period Column: The period/time column stays fixed as you scroll horizontally, so you always know which time slot you're looking at.
  • Click for Details: If a cell's text is truncated, click it to see the full subject name and teacher in the detail popup.
  • Check Publication Status: Look for "Not Published" badges to identify grades that still need their timetable published.
  • Use Legend: The color legend at the bottom helps identify subjects when the grid is too dense to read individual cell text.
  • Scroll Navigation: Use the scroll navigation to quickly jump to specific grade groups rather than scrolling through the entire grid.
  • Schedule Groups: If your school uses multiple bell schedules, each schedule gets its own grid section, making it clear which grades share the same timing.
